We are seeking a Project Controls Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong overlap with the Burnham core values. As a Projects Controls Engineer your primary role is to serve as a subject matter expert for the Project Controls discipline within the Capital Projects Group, supporting Project Management personnel by providing functional leadership.
This position is based in our Raleigh, NC office and if needed, relocation support is available. In this position, you will…
• Develop cost, schedule, and commercial baseline for Capex
• Maintain cost systems and provide required reports.
• Develop integrated engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) schedules.
• Support Construction / Project management team in conducting monthly schedule progress updates. Provide team-back and functional leadership in the regular schedule updating process.
• Recommend solutions or recovery plans to schedule or cost impact or delays
• Analyze schedule, review delays, proposed schedule recovery alternatives
• Analyze variances in cost and schedule performance against the plan and communicate the reasons for the issuance of variance and proposed mitigation plans to Project Management.

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Mathematics, Construction Management, Economics, Finance, or a related field
• Ten (10) years of related experience in project controls and or construction in a similar role, with project generally in the range of $20MM-$100MM.
• In depth experience in Primavera Project Planner (P6)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%
• Project Controls and Finance experience, including understanding of:

- Scheduling (including resource loading
- Progress measurement
- Risk assessment and management
- Code of accounts
- Work breakdown structure
- Change management
- Cost control
- Estimating process and planning
• Experience in construction estimating, quantity take-offs, and review of subcontractor proposals.
• Jobsite experience and understanding of construction safety program.
• Previous experience in technical and business writing skills.
• Comfort in working with project teams remotely. What will set you apart:
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE)
• Certified Construction Manager or PMP
