ABC Members Brightmark Energy and Clean Fuel Partners announced a deal that would transfer ownership of the Dane County, WI manure and food waste digester to Brightmark Energy but retain the services of Clean Fuel Partners as operator of the facility. Clean Fuel Partners originally purchased the digester in 2015 after its previous owner left it languishing and turned the facility around into an award-winning biogas system lauded by the local community and government. Since constructed, the Dane County digester has produced renewable electricity from its biogas, but with the electricity purchase agreement with the utility nearing expiration, the timing was perfect to modify the system to produce renewable natural gas. As the new owner, Brightmark plans to deliver the digester’s biogas to the nearby landfill, managed by a third ABC member, Dane County, to be upgraded to RNG and injected into the natural gas pipeline. Other upgrades to increase the capacity of the entire system are also in the works. More >>
