We know biogas systems can increase soil health. But how do you measure how healthy the soil is to see how much it’s improved? One morning in August, dairy farmers Knud Grell, Niels Hedermann, Jörgen Erikson, Tom and Sophie Gregory went to dig a 15 cm hole in the ground on one of the fields at their farms. A pair of white underpants were gently laid into the brown soil and buried. Hopes are that the cotton undies will be gone by the spring. Eaten by tiny organisms.
