Ann Arbor, MI — April 10, 2025 —Project Canary, an emissions measurement and reporting platform, and Sniffer Robotics, a pioneer in drone-based emissions monitoring, today announced a strategic partnership that will revolutionize methane emissions monitoring and quantification at landfill sites worldwide.

Sniffer Robotics’ innovative SnifferDRONE™ utilizes a patented umbilical system that collects methane data within 2-4 inches above the ground across large geographic areas. This data will now be processed through Project Canary’s advanced analytics platform, reducing processing time from days to seconds while delivering more accurate and granular emissions insights. This approach, approved under OTM-51, is a safer, faster, and more reliable alternative to the conventional EPA Method 21 for manual surface emissions measurement. In addition to satisfying compliance requirements, it goes beyond the EPA Method 21 application by covering a broader surface area and providing near-real-time emissions quantification, which enables site-specific data-driven insight into emissions.
“Our customers will benefit from the integration of two industry-leading technologies,” said David Barron, Chief Technology Officer. “By combining the SnifferDRONE data collection system with Project Canary’s state-of-the-art data transformation and quantification platform, our clients will gain the insights needed to evaluate the impact of methane mitigation on total emissions and enhance gas collection.”
