U.S. Energy® Transitions Ownership of Its CNG Station Network to Trillium - American Biogas Council

Appleton, Wis., April 25, 2025 – U.S. Energy®, a leading provider of refined products, alternative fuels, and environmental credits, completed the sale of its compressed natural gas (CNG) station network to Trillium Energy Solutions, a member of the Love’s Family of Companies and leading supplier of alternative fueling solutions. This included the transfer of ownership and operations for 44 formerly branded GAIN® Clean Fuel CNG stations.

Recognized as a key player in the renewable natural gas (RNG) space, U.S. Energy will continue to support growth of the alternative fuel market through its robust RNG portfolio. With over 45 RNG development projects and offtake agreements, U.S. Energy will continue to supply clean fuel into the transportation market—through nearly 1,400 operational RNG stations and its Volt Vault™ natural-gas based electric vehicle charging solution. Additionally, U.S. Energy is supplying RNG into the voluntary market as a thermal energy source and feedstock for hydrogen, renewable diesel, methanol, and LNG production.

“This decision reflects our long-term strategy to grow our core businesses while driving excellence through existing operations and platform expansions,” shared Mike Koel, president of U.S. Energy. “Renewable natural gas remains a focus for our customers and will remain a focus for our team. From additional supply deals to new dispensing opportunities, we’ll continue to diversify across all verticals of the RNG value chain.”

Beyond renewable natural gas, U.S. Energy will continue to build out its other offerings for its wholesale, retail, and commercial customer base. This includes the company’s refined products terminal network, multimodal logistic capabilities, and renewable diesel offering.
