The City of Portland, Oregon is a local government agency. The Portland, Oregon Bureau of Environmental Services serves the Portland community by protecting public health, water quality and the environment. The city provides sewage and stormwater collection and treatment services to accommodate Portland’s current and future needs. At its Columbia Boulevard Wastewater Treatment Plant, ten anaerobic digesters process Portland wastewater into bio-solids, which are then delivered to farms in Eastern Oregon as a nutrient-rich fertilizer and enough biogas to provide 1.7 MW of electricity. The plant plans to complete it’s conversion to produce renewable natural gas instead of renewable electricity in 2020. More >>
