Biogas Industry Launches Ad Campaign Highlighting Untapped Domestic Energy and Economic Potential - American Biogas Council

WASHINGTON — April 16, 2025 — As Congress prepares to deliberate critical clean energy tax provisions, the American Biogas Council (ABC) has launched an online advertising campaign to spotlight the power of biogas facilities to convert waste into fuel, electricity, and economic opportunity.

The campaign, which began today in Washington, DC, and will air for the next two months as the debate intensifies, aims to raise awareness among lawmakers, policymakers, and the public about the versatility of biogas systems to turn organic waste – from farms, food production, landfills and wastewater – into reliable energy.

“Biogas is the only ener

gy solution that recycles our growing waste problem into a growing energy resource,” said Patrick Serfass, Executive Director of the American Biogas Council. “At a time when Americans need more power and domestic fuels, biogas offers a reliable source of both renewable fuel and baseload electricity, while reducing waste and creating jobs and economic growth across the nation.”

Biogas systems deliver a waste solution with environmental and economic benefits across rural and urban communities alike. With over 24,000 potential project sites still untapped across the U.S., industry leaders say supportive tax policy could unleash billions in investment and bolster energy independence.

“Every day, the U.S. throws away enough organic waste to power millions of homes if processed through biogas systems,” added Serfass. “This campaign is about showing what’s possible and how we can all benefit when we don’t treat waste as waste, but a valuable resource to generate energy, jobs and benefits to local communities.”
