Sorbent Tubes for the Measurement of Metals in Gaseous Fuels
November 6, 2024
This webinar describes a new method for measuring metals in gaseous fuels using sorbent tubes. The presentation includes a description of method development, sampling procedure, sample analysis, and supporting data. RNG producers must comply with pipeline tariffs in order to inject their gas into a natural gas pipeline. These tariffs often include limits on toxic metals, including copper, arsenic, antimony, and lead. Prior to the development of this method, testing companies were required to rely on EPA Method 29, which was not designed for this application, requires the use of hazardous chemicals, and is highly susceptible to contamination. Conversely, the sorbent tube method was designed specifically for gaseous fuels and significantly simplifies the measurement.
